Can I legally ride electric bikes on public roads? Do I need tax, insurance or a licence to ride an e-bikes?Updated a year ago

El Camino can be ridden as any other bike. Pedal-assisted electric bikes do not require a drivers licence, tax or specific insurance to ride.

UK and EU law requires power assistance to cut out above 15mph and only re-engage when speed drops below 15.5mph.

El Camino is designed to ride on roads and bridleways at your normal riding speed. It is easy to ride unpowered and pedals freely as the motor has zero drag and the bike is light enough to ride as a regular gravel bike.
